Interaksi Sosial Masyarakat Antar Etnis di Kelurahan Lompio Kecamatan Banggai Kabupaten Banggai Laut

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and describe the patterns of social interaction among ethnic communities in Lompio Village, Banggai District, Banggai Laut Regency. The research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving community members from various ethnic backgrounds, including Banggai, Bugis, Buton, Gorontalo, Arab, Saluan, Balantak, and Chinese. Data analysis was conducted using an interactive model consisting of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that social interaction among ethnic groups in Lompio Village is predominantly associative in nature, manifested through cooperation, accommodation, acculturation, and assimilation. Social activities such as balombot (mutual cooperation), community service, traditional ceremonies, and economic activities in the market strengthen social solidarity and interethnic integration. Although dissociative interactions such as economic competition, contravention, and potential conflicts were identified, they remained under control and did not develop into open social conflicts. From the perspective of symbolic interactionism, local traditions and social practices function as symbols that foster collective meaning, tolerance, and social cohesion. The study concludes that ethnic diversity in Lompio Village serves as a source of social strength that supports harmonious, peaceful, and integrated community life.
